Gattis has worshippers from all over the continent, mostly town guards, knights and those in the disciplined forces - however there are also some barbarians and rogues among his flock. True followers will usually wear a band or sash of scarlet red. The Holy Symbol of Gattis is the Portculis, symbolising his role as defender of the faith. Gattis' avatar is said to be an attractive, dark haired, middle-aged male, usually wearing full plate armour. Gattis is seen as stoic, strict and highly disciplined.
Welcome to Opus Deorum
The Golden Years
The Island of Celonia, the one time jewel in the Great Ring of Islands and home to the Five Churches. Legends tell of a great civilisation flourishing here for thousands of years, artists, poets, storytellers, musicians and traders all called this place home. It is said that The Great Races lived in harmony during those peaceful years, unfortunately things have long since changed.
Isaketh's Tale XI (the dark years)
"..they came at dawn swarming through the village and slaughtering everything in their path, great twisted, red eyed beasts straight from hell. Our men fought bravely but died quickly. The women and children were less fortunate.."
Present Day
Celonia is now a place in anarchy, it has taken us over 800 years to fight our way back to the surface of this world, free from our tunnels and hideaways. The Great Races, once our allies and friends, now roam this land like wild beasts, back to their primitive feudal ways but we shall defeat them. The Great Towns are mostly lost to us, now mere shadows of their former beauty but we shall rediscover and restore them. The Celonian race has survived its darkest hour, now we shall prevail.
What is it?
Opus Deorum is a text-based Role Playing Game. Players compete against each other in fights, learn magic, make weapons and armour and explore the Island of Celonia.
Characters & Classes
There are no fixed character classes in Opus Deorum, you may build your character as you like. Each player may choose skills ranging from hunting to armourmaking, and a selection of eight distinct fighting and magic skills. Fighters can learn magic, Wizards can fight with swords, its up to YOU to build your own unique character. Do it your way.
Multi level gameplay
You can join a team and fight alongside friends or fight as a solo player. Move from town to town trading on the markets, or fight in the town arenas to become a well-known champion. Each town has its own market, its own arenas and its own collection of monsters to train on. If you want more monsters to train on, go catch some from the Wilds of Celonia.
Achievements and Awards
Almost everything you do in Opus Deorum goes towards your list of in-game achievements and each award or achievement increases your effect on the game. See if you can make yourself an OD legend!
What do I need to play?
This is a browser game, there are no downloads, no plug-ins and no installation instructions. All you need is an up to date browser (FireFox recommended) with Session cookies and Javascript enabled. Thats it.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Its entirely FREE to play Opus Deorum and will always remain so. Players have the ability to donate or subscribe should they wish and in return receive very minor in-game rewards, such as different coloured names and the ability to have profile pictures or a player character background, but there is never any requirement to pay and its entirely possible to succeed in the game without paying.
Which means you are going to kill me with adverts.......right?
No. Opus Deorum currently has NO ADVERTS. This was a conscious decision by the owner who dislikes web games with thousands of adverts cluttering up the place. OD may add adverts to the site in the future, but there will always be an option (in game) to switch them off entirely. Players will never have to resort to adblock or other software to remove adverts. The only exception to the no advert rule, is one banner exchange picture on our voting page.
